Install Xp Pxe Network

To network boot Windows XP with the XP network boot software - CCBoot, we first of all need to create a system image and here're the steps - Choose one client PC as master PC used to create boot image for Windows XP. Attach a hard disk on the PC. Delete all partitions first. In this post I am going to take you through the process of adding network drivers into a boot image, mainly for the purpose of PXE booting machines. This will involve using 'Deployment Image Servicing and Management' (DISM.exe) to import the machine specific network drivers (.inf files) into the boot image. After unsuccessfully trying to boot both from SD and another PXE-guide I finally had some success with your guide! However I do not have a functioning CD-rom on my “server” so I have to use images instead and when I try to install windows (XP in my case) they option to install is grayed out (meaning I cannot install).

Ive used PXE environments in the past, but mainly for personal projects and not in a large scale business environment.

Once the image is set up correctly you dont need to do much more then that, providing all the hardware is the same.

Pxe Server For Windows

One issue is network load, if all your users start their computers at 9:00am thats going to put a huge load on ur pxe server and will take ages to download the OS - this will need some thought if you have a lot of users who on an average day all start at the same time.
