Yamaha 225 Corrosion Inspectionfasrers
I am looking at a boat with a 200HP 2006 Yamaha 4stroke, low hours.
The hull most commonly comes with an inboard v6 at 220 or 225HP. The hull weighs approx 3500lbs.
When it comes with an outboard, the horsepower is usually 225HP.
My guess is the weight drop from the 225I/O to the 200OB will negate the lower power, in terms of hole shot.
I am aware of the exhaust corrosion issues with the Yamahas, and will have the motor inspected for that (among the other usual things).
My question is: can you give me informed knowledge about the real world differences between the Yamaha 200 and 225?
I have read that the 200 is actually 206ish HP and the 225 is 213ish.
Thank you.

Yamaha 225 Corrosion Inspection
I am the new owner of a pair of 225 yamaha 4 strokes 2003 models with 425 hours and have read a few threads with horror stories of corrosion problems inside the motors and exhaust ports. This has probably been beat to death, but since the motors are new to me I would like to know from some experienced owners or mechanics on this issue. Yamaha recommends the use of two Ya- malube gasoline additives to reduce internal Sacrificial anodes are attached to the out- deposits and extend the storage life of gaso- board motor to provide corrosion protection line. This is a mechanic special engine, it did run on stand but I did not run under load. Corrosion update looked ok, not sure if it was completed or not. This engine has a counter left hand rotation lower unit, which can be used in single and twin engine applications. Item 14 1995 Yamaha 225 hp vx76 2-Stroke 25' Outboard Boat Motor.
